TEREM-HOLDING enters UAV systems development

Kalin Dimitrov, the Executive director of TEREM-HOLDING took part in the seminar "Innovations in the Bulgarian defence industry and the modernization of the Bulgarian army" at the University of National and World Economy on May 13, 2024. The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov and the Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov and was part of the National Scientific Program "Security and Defence".

Kalin Dimitrov presented "Lessons from the use of unmanned systems in Ukraine and their implementation in the Bulgarian defence industry" and announced that TEREM-HOLDING has already started a process of building capacity for the development and production of unmanned strike systems. "Our Holding is a suitable platform that can unite Bulgarian manufacturers not only from the military industry for the localization of unmanned aerial vehicles parts and components. At the moment, there are ongoing discussions with Bulgarian developers in regard with upgrading and improving the systems through modern technologies based on artificial intelligence and other innovative solutions," shared Mr. Dimitrov. According to him, TEREM - Tsar Samuil is also capable to produce specialized ammunition for combat drones, and in the future the company is going to develop a complete product line, which is a precedent for the territory of Bulgaria.

The Executive director of TEREM-HOLDING also presented practical examples of the application of combat drones in military operations on the territory of Ukraine, emphasizing the effectiveness of tactical means and their advantages, but also pointed out some mistakes in a strategic aspect, which have been proven as non-functional solutions in the course of military operations. Kalin Dimitrov outlined trends and development perspectives in the field of unmanned systems, emphasizing on the need of prioritization in production facilities implementation in Bulgaria.

The project for unmanned aerial vehicles is a part of the Holding innovative development strategy and its companies in order to adopt new technologies and upgrade production capacities and know-how capabilities along with the development of defence and security innovations.

The presentation within the seminar "Innovations in the Bulgarian Defence Industry and the Modernization of the Bulgarian Army" was a consequence of the cooperation agreement between TEREM-HOLDING and the University of National and World Economy, signed in April, with reference to strategic development of human resources through training and attracting young talents.
